'Saturday Night Fever was a highly influential film in the 70's - starring John Travolta was a film about how dance could liberate you - it glamorized disco clubs and sparked off the popularity of disco; music from the Bee Gees was now extremely popular, it influenced fashion by pushing forward the takeover of three-piece and leisure suits. Running along with the psychedelic image of the hippies, platform boots were worn by anyone and everyone; two to four inches high (just on the platform), they gave everyone a towering look.
