Even after the breakthrough of Nylon, textiles was limited to mostly natural fibres. This all changed in the 60's when synthetic materials such as Dacron and Poplin were developed - they were a technological marvel and with nylon took over from everything, including cotton; the pros far outweighed the cons. They would drip-dry, be produced with far cheaper expenses, would take dye easier and were crease resistant! Synthetic fibres were a dream come true to housewives everywhere.
