Changing Faces

For men and women, hairstyles were quite a key element of the look. At the beginning of the 70's, women had kept their long tumbling locks from the 60's hippy movement (unless they had their hair cut short as a Mod) and had them poker-straight. However this all changed when style icon Farrah Fawcett took the world by storm with her choppy, feathered locks; this look defined the second half of the 70's.

(Source: muldrake.com) I love how springy the choppy hair looks - it frames her face and really brings out her eyes.

For men, who had previously kept their hair neat and groomed, their hair was now untamed and free to grow; sideburns and beards were embraced, as were shaggy haircuts as seen on bands such as ABBA and Queen.
