The Vietnam war was a terrible time - many weapons were used and caused much physical pain for the Vietnamese civilians; one of the many reasons why protesters were so against this war and came in such big numbers. The American government were involved to ensure Vietnam would not become a Communist country, but got too involved in the battles and were part of much bloodshed. All the hopes and dreams of the Flower Power protesters were finally fulfilled in 1975 when Saigon, the capital city of south Vietnam, was captured by the people's army of Vietnam.
(Source: ltaaa.com) Even children were terribly damages due to this war - the iconic Ms. Phuc image shows children, in particular a young naked girl running from a napalm attack with gas burns. It's too horrific to even think about but we must not forget that it happened and we shouldn't let history repeat itself.
