Rejoice, War is Over

In 1947 the Allied troops finally won the war and the world was rejoicing - war was finally over and everything was back on track. Christian Dior revived the strong, nipped in hourglass silhouette which was in development in the 30's and named it the 'New Look' - It heavily influenced the fashions to follow and is one of the most iconic looks of all time.

Paris, through all its fighting and underground rebellion, was back at the centre of the fashion map and showed exuberant and extravagant collections to start off the 'Golden Age of Couture'.
