This is the Modern Way

The term 'Mod' comes from 'modernist' and was coined to describe fans of modern jazz. Mods were extremely style conscious and fashion forward in their garment choices - the media started using it for anything which was popular or modern in the 60's.

were The Who, regarded as one of the most influential music acts as well as the Rolling Stones.

Mods were stereotypically young men who tailored their clothes to their own style, taking influences from Europe. They also rode scooters and would hang out in coffee houses instead of pubs - coffee houses were open early in the morning until late in the evening, and played jazz, so it was seen as more arty to be a mod.

The mod look wasn't just restricted to males though - as mentioned previously, designer Mary Quant was a huge part of the movement and her futuristic designs provided everyone with a new modernistic look.

I'm really interested with the mod movement because I feel it's so refreshing to want to do things differently and look to the future.
